During the the Afsharid Dynasty, Persia reemerged as a world power.

Nader Shah, often referred to as Napoleon of Persia, founded the Afsharid Dynasty.  Before Nader's ascent to power, Persia had fallen many invaders and not unified. 

Under Nader Shah, Persia regained lost territories from the Ottomans, Afgans, and Russians.  Military campaigns into India brought home treasures such as the Peacock Throne and Koh-i-Nor diamond.
